General Browsing Information
We run analytics to track site usage. If you visit our site, we may collect your computer's IP address, browser type, and operating system; the date and time you access the site; the URL of the website from which you linked to forum.grinnell.edu; and the various Forum pages you visited.
We track these things in aggregate to help us understand what features of the site are most appealing to visitors. This information helps us improve the website for the people who visit it most often.
Occasionally, we may use your email address to send you news or other information. If you do not want to receive this material, we pledge to make it easy for you to immediately unsubscribe yourself from any electronic communication.
Spammers and Hackers. We are not responsible for protecting your email accounts and other personal Internet transactional pages from Internet spammers and hackers. Someone spamming or hacking your email and other online accounts is not related to information we host on Forum. As well, the wide variety of alumni email providers, computer software, and user behavior (e.g., how alumni use their computers; what web sites they visit; what software they download, etc.) means that the College can do little in this regard to help you. We recommend that you use safe practices, such as routinely changing your email passwords, refraining from opening emails that appear to be spam or other forms of fraudulent activity such as phishing, and avoiding visits to Internet sites that are unsecure or that support illicit or illegal activity.
The Office of Development and Alumni Relations is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of web sites to which it links on Forum.
We may disclose information about you in response to a court order or at other times when we believe we are reasonably required to do so by law.
