Our students make a big difference. They leave campus to become leaders because of the education they receive at Grinnell. Covering the cost of that education is money well spent.
What lies ahead for the College's need-blind policy?
Grinnell College has studied the outlook for Grinnell’s future and the issue of our projected budgetary shortfalls. For now, we know this much for certain:
o We will continue our need-blind policy.
o We will continue to meet 100 percent of demonstrated need for our domestic students,
What we do not know for certain is how long we can continue to do these things without maintaining a sustainable balance through additional revenue, including tuition and gifts. If we have not demonstrated significant progress by the fall of 2015, there is the possibility that the College may have to become more need-aware, effective with the entering class of 2017.
How will the College measure progress?
o We need an additional $4 million each year. That means a 74-percent increase in total giving from alumni over last year. You will play an important philanthropic role going forward.
o We can no longer rely on our exceptional endowment in today’s economic reality
o We must act together to ensure a sustainable future for the College
What can you do?
Grinnellians need to come together as never before, sharing responsibility for the College’s sustainable future and for the values we treasure. Help us carry Grinnell’s best traditions forward into a new era. Please consider how you can support the College with your gift today.
Every gift counts. All gifts add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars for financial aid, academics, and other programs.
