LEADERSHIP IN CRISIS
Nelson Mandela chose members of the regime that had imprisoned him to be part of his new government. He said he hated them but that he realized if he kept hating them, they would still control him. He was a complex man. This might be a good time to take a look at the lecture on Mandela by George Drake '56, Grinnell College Professor Emeritus of History and former president of the College, in Professor Drake's Leadership in Crisis video series, presented in the Forum Media Gallery. Professor Drake also covers George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Ghandi, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. You might also want to check out Professor Drake's recommended reading list for great books on these leaders.
